ABOUT REBORN TEA · About Reborn Tea
Reborn Tea specialises in the Korean tea ceremony and white tea. Led by JAX Ruilin, it transforms the flavours of tea, the beauty of tea ware and the rituals of gathering into everyday experiences that are accessible and easy to practise.
Reborn Tea was born of founder JAX Ruilin’s deep affection for tea. Over more than 15 years of studying and promoting the art of tea, JAX Ruilin has visited white tea-producing regions in Fujian, tea-growing areas in Korea and tea gardens in Uji, Japan. She continues to study white tea’s origin, raw materials, processing, age and brewing, as well as the cultural context of tea rituals in different places.
She believes that tea is more than a drink; it is a philosophy of life. Over a cup of tea, we can slow down, return to ourselves and rediscover the beauty of life. This belief lies at the heart of Reborn Tea.
Reborn Tea specialises in the Korean tea ceremony and white tea. From Silver Needle, White Peony and Shou Mei to wilderness-grown white tea and aged white tea from Fuding, it has developed an appreciation system that is accessible and easy to practise. Paired with quality tea ware, including blue-and-white porcelain from Jingdezhen and Yixing clay teapots, this enables students to develop a complete appreciation of tea, from the vessels to the flavours.
Amid the clamour of modern life, the tea ceremony offers a space in which the mind can return to stillness. We believe that only when we quieten down can we hear what our inner selves are truly saying.
The tea ceremony teaches us to treat everything with respect: tea, tea ware and those sharing the table. This respect extends to every part of life.
Good tea is clear and bright; so is good thinking. The tea ceremony trains us to see things clearly, understand their essence and make wise choices.
One of the principles of the tea ceremony is harmony between people and between people and nature. Tea brings us together, connecting us to create something beautiful.
From fresh white tea and wilderness-grown white tea to aged white tea, Reborn Tea uses variety, region, picking, processing, age and storage as guides to appreciation, making the characteristics of each cup of white tea clear and understandable.
Using the etiquette, aesthetics and comprehensive hands-on practice of the Korean tea ceremony as a framework, we guide students from an introductory experience towards systematic study.
Courses use tea ware such as blue-and-white porcelain from Jingdezhen and Yixing clay teapots. As students learn the tea ceremony, they can also appreciate the beauty of traditional Chinese craftsmanship and develop their aesthetic sensibility.
Class sizes are carefully limited to ensure that every student receives personal guidance from the teacher. We believe that genuine study of the tea ceremony requires a quiet, focused environment.
Reborn Tea works with the Korean Tea Ceremony Association (한국다례원) to promote the Korean tea ceremony, bringing its etiquette, aesthetics and practical elements into the classroom and offering students a systematic course of study.
From introductory workshops to tea ceremony practitioner certification courses, students can choose a course of study according to their experience and goals. For course requirements and certification arrangements, please see the course information or contact us.
